Dr. Danny E. Black
I Attended Tascosa High School, Amarillo College and West Texas State University. One of the local physicians recommended that I apply to the University of PA. School of Dental Medicine located in the city of brotherly love, Philadelphia.

I worked for the Dept. of Veterans Affairs for more than 30 years, and after my retirement in 2000, my daughter, Dr. Ruiz & I started a private practice. Dr. Ruiz was born while I was in Dental School during my first year. I believe the Lord put Dentist blood in her veins. I used to work at our kitchen table in our apartment and she would help me.

I retired and I told her I would help her get started. Over the past five years I did contract work for the TDCJ and Community Dental Clinic. In June of 2006, I came back full time. We are a family oriented practice. We accept Medicaid and Chips patients and provide services for Advo-Jan Warner-PACE program enrollees and MHMR patients.

Our office opens up in the waiting room with a mischievious young man who has two chicklets in place where his two teeth are supposed to be . As you go into the treatment area, the rooms and the hallway, you are greeted by my passion, paintings by the 'Painter of Lights,' Thomas Kinkade. I once had the privelege of meeting Mr. Kinkade, had my picture taken with him and got his autograph. One of my prized possessions is a personal letter that I received from him which I keep in my office at home.

I was reluctant to work on children when I was in dental school, but I thought back to one 13 year old girl with whom I took some extra time to fix a front tooth... She had broken it half way off. They did a root canal, but her front tooth was still half-missing. I arranged with my professor to fix her tooth until she got older to have something more permanent. Several months went by and I was in the clinic when a young lady saw me. She squealed, came running, and jumped in my arms. She had gone from a little girl who always kept her hand on her mouth to a cheerleader in her school. You can make a difference in people's lifes and that is why we are here.

I love to talk to the kids and try to make them feel at ease. We explain that we are not here to hurt them, but to help them. We are also praying for family members of some of our patients.

We are overwhelmed with our patient load sometimes, but our objective is to relieve pain and suffering. We have treated many seriously ill patient's who need extensive treatment in preparaton for treatments and surgeries.
